Student Activities

Student Government

The Student Government Association is representative of the entire student body. Seven members from each class; freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior, make up the group. Election of the upperclassmen occurs during the spring semester, and the freshman are elected at the beginning of school in the fall. The Student Government at Southeast works hard to promote leadership, scholarship, citizenship and student involvement. Another major goal is the enhancement of school pride and spirit.

Cheerleaders

The cheerleaders have a major responsibility in promoting school spirit and in supporting our athletic teams. Southeast has two squads of cheerleaders: Varsity (co-ed) and Junior-Varsity (all-girl). Tryouts are held each spring.

Pommies

Approximately 16 girls are selected each spring to represent Southeast on our Pom Pon Squad. They perform at home football and basketball games as well as at other special occasions. In addition to their performance responsibilities, the squad actively supports and promotes all of the Southeast activity programs. The team practices at 6 o'clock in the morning all year round. Tryouts are held each spring.

Academic Bowl	Compete against teams from other schools in academic contests
African American Cultural Club	Support group for African American students
Asian Cultural Club	Club for education of Asian culture
Astronomy	For students interested in Astronomy
BEST Robotics Club	Students construct a robot to play a game and compete against other schools
Bible Club	Non-denominational lunch meeting to explore what the Bible says and means
Business Professionals of America (BPA)	A business organization that focuses on basic skills necessary for employment in an office/business environment. Click here to see the website created by Ms. Dickerson's class.
Creativity Club	Students who want to share artistic talents with peers
Debate/Forensics	Students must take the class to be in this club
DECA	An organization for students interested in marketing, management, and entrepreneurship
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
Foreign Exchange Club	Support group for Foreign Exchange students
French Club	A club for students interested in France and French culture.
FCCLA	Club for students enrolled in OFACS
Future Teachers of America	Club for students interested in teaching as a career
Gay-Straight Alliance	Promotes compassion, diversity and understanding
Guitar/Piano Club	Student musicians share their talents
Latin Alliance	Club that celebrates Hispanic cultures. All students are welcome. Activities include community service, fundraiser's, dance performances and cultural awareness/unity.
National Forensics League	Professional organization for debate and forensics students
National Honor Society	Community service organization; membership based on maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Each member must volunteer 50 hours a year. Juniors and seniors only.
Ping Pong Club	Activity for those interested in ping pong.
Quill and Scroll	National organization for students who have been on Newspaper or Yearbook staff for two years.
SADD	Students Against Destructive Decisions
Sierra Teens	For teens interested in the conservation of resources
Science Olympiad	Interscholastic competition in areas of science, engineering and technology
Student Technology Leadership Team	Students interested in technology; Develop technology projects for competition. Click here to see the STL page.

This code outlines appropriate behaviors regarding chemical, substance, and tobacco abuse; citizenship; eligibility; and participation expectations; and the consequences of violations of the policies described.
