Banking


Principles of Banking is a class that will prepare students for a banking career. In Principles of Banking 1, students will learn about the money supply, negotiable instruments, and consumer loans. In Principles of Banking 2, students will learn about mortgages, careers and security issues that banks face. Students must have passed Intro to Business or Financial Management first.

Business Law

Business Law is the study of basic legal principles common to a broad base of everyday business activities in which an individual is likely to become involved. Students will be introduced to a basic foundation of our legal system and its evolution in keeping with society’s changing ideals, values and goals. Other units will cover contracts, housing, commercial paper, property and bailment.

Financial Management

Financial Management is the class that gives you money to invest in the stock market and teaches you how to budget and save money to avoid the credit trap among other things. Students also explore careers and learn about some college options and how to afford college.

Intro to Business

Introduction to business focuses on all of the fundamentals of business. Students will learn about starting a business, marketing/advertising, careers in the business world and more. Students create many products and learn how to market those products.

Marketing Education

Would you like to have a career in Marketing, Management, and Entreprenurship? Marketing Education and Employment is the class that will lead students to those careers. Marketing Education competes in a student group called DECA and runs the Buff Stop to develop their leadership skills.

Practical Law

 

Would you like to learn some things about the legal system and how it applies to you? If the answer is yes, you want to take Practical Law. Students analyze cases and get first hand information from a Wichita police officer. Students also get to be judge and jury for trials and determine sentences for the guilty ones. Students also learn about lawsuits and how they may be impacted.

Sports & Entertainment Marketing

If you have an interest in learning about what goes behind the scenes of a football game or concert, how to plan for an event like a golf tournament, the Sports and Entertainment Marketing course is for you! Students will study business and apply their knowledge of sports and entertainment in creating projects.

Would you like to own your own company and be your own boss? You will get the chance to run your own business during school at least once in Youth Entrepreneurs of Kansas during the school year. Students will also take field trips, network with other entrepreneurs, and learn how to start your own business.
